Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Kengtung – Arrival (-)

Keng tongUpon arrival at Kengtung, your guide will greet you and transfer to your hotel. Kengtung is a beautiful city with the traditional architectural styles of the Shan people, wooden houses with balconies. After freshening up set off with your guide to explore the city streets, lake, teashops and the Maha Myat Muni pagoda.This evening, at a local restaurant and sample the regional cuisine (at own account).

(Your hotel room is available from about 2.00 pm available. Your luggage may already be parked in thehotel and is a former reference of rooms subject to availability on arrival.)

Day 2: Kengtung Trek  (B, L, - )

ethicAfter breakfast visit Kengtung’s local market. This daily market is visited by villagers from the surrounding area, many in their traditional dresses,  who come to sell their products and barter for goods. Next, travel to Pin Tauk village, where you will begin a 1 hour trek to the Akha minority village of Hwe Lon. Spend some time in the village meeting the locals and learning about their unique customs and traditions. After a picnic lunch, resume trekking to Ann Village. Stroll through the village and notice that the Ann minority is known for their traditional black dress and blackened teeth. Stop at Lone Tree Hill for excellent views of the city and continue to Kengtung.

Overnight in Kengtung.

Day 3: Kengtung Trek (B, L, -)

trekkingAfter breakfast you will be driven 2 hours to the starting point of the days trek. Enjoy well maintained roads and magnificent views of mountains dotted with tribal villages. You will trek the first hour among gently sloping hills to discover a remote beautiful, wooden monastery thought to be over 300 years old. Marvel at the wood carvings on the doors and paintings on both the interior and exterior walls. Inside the Buddha room you will find paintings of Jakata stories, ancient Buddha images and other impressive religious figures and furniture. Continue on to Wan Nyat, a unique village of the Loi people. Spend time exploring the village tand learn about their long houses, culture and traditions. If you wish, continue one more hour to another Loi village. Wang Seng features an impressively large monastery and is seldom visited by tourists and. A lunch box will be served along the way. After your visits, you return to your car for driving back to Kengtung, arriving in the late afternoon. Freshen up at the hotel and dine at a local restaurant (at own account).

Day 4: Kengtung - Departure (B, -, -)

After breakfast at the hotel, this morning is at your leisure to explore Kengtung.  If time allows, visit a traditional Shan lacquer ware workshop and the water buffalo market, held twice a week in Kengtung.

Then transfer to the Kengtung airport for your onward flight.
