Myanmar e-Sports Federation will select players for the 30th SEA Games to be held in the Philippines.
The federation plans to choose players to compete in games such as Dota 2, Mobile Legends and Arena of Valor at the SEA Games.
The selection will be held from May 19 to August 18. The federation will hold seven tryouts, and the four teams that win the pre-tryout and main tryout will have to compete again in the regular season. After that, the four teams for Dota 2 and Mobile Legends and two teams of Arena of Valor will compete in final section. The champion team will be awarded K15 million, it said.
Potential players from the selection teams will be selected in advance for possible substitution in case players have certain injuries, said U Kaung Myat San, vice president of the federation.
“We are preparing for the first international competition. We aim to win medals in the competition,” he said.
Electronic sports will be included for the first time in the SEA Games set to be hosted by the Philippines from November 30 to December 10, and Myanmar is expected to compete in three to five games out of six.
Besides the three games, competition for Starcraft 2 and Tekken 7 will be notified to play online, and selection of the players will be based on their level of interest in the games.
Six medals will be contested in e-sports while a single demonstration event will also be held. E-sports in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games is accredited by the Asian Electronic Sports Federation.
