A low pressure area may occur in Bay of Bengal within 48 hours and is likely to intensify into a depression, according to Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
“Heavy downpour will be occurred in Mon, Tanintharyi and Rakhine coasts and deltaic areas in these days. Rakhine and Chin states and middle areas of Magway region will have more rain if the low pressure area is formed. We forecasted that the depression is likely to head to India,” said Dr Kyaw Moe Oo, Director General of the DMH.
According to observations made by the DMH on June 7, a low pressure area may occur in north of Bay of Bengal within 48 hours and it may intensify into a depression on June 11 before moving to coastal areas of West Bengal of India and Bangladesh.
Moreover monsoon wind will be moderate from strong in Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
The DMG forecasted rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Nay Pyi Taw and Magway Region, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Kayah State and widespread in the remaining regions and states with regionally heavy falls in Yangon Region, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon states and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions. Degree of certainty is 100 %. It said occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar coasts.
