Strong gales hit in Chin, Sagaing, Magway Regions

Strong gales accompanied by hailstones destroyed some buildings in Chin State, Sagaing and Magway Regions on April 2nd evening, according to the sources.

“Strong wind hit in Sagaing Region. We didn’t get the damaging list. Mainly, the roofs of houses were blown out. Lashei Township, Sagaing Region was also hit by the strong wind. At present, around 250 houses have been damaged. The Aids Group already remitted the funds. So, we are going to support the aids to the victims. The experts said about the weather news and climate change. We would like to advice the people to look at the facebook accounts of Weathers Bureau and Meteorologist U Tun Lwin,” said the Director from Sagiang Region Natural Disaster Management Department.

Likewise, the strong wind accompanied by hailstone hit in Gantgaw Township, Magaway Region, on April 2nd but there was no damage.

“Hailstones struck around 10:30 of April 2nd. It was taken about 10 minutes. The size of hailstone is about pellet,” said Nay Lin Aung, an administrator of Hmwele village, Gantgaw Township.

The Department of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Chin State announced that houses, schools, monasteries and other buildings were destroyed by strong wind in Paletwa and Matupi Townships in Chin State, on April 2nd.

As the signboard of Waibula New City was collapsed due to the strong in Chin State, the opening ceremony was changed.

Similarly, strong wind destroyed houses and buildings in some townships in Chin State and Sagaing Region on March 31, sources said.

A total of 77 houses, four churches, a monastery and four schools had their roofs damaged in Matupi, Chin State, on March 31. A total of 87 family households were victimized by strong wind and Ks10.536 million worth of properties were lost.
