Bogyoke Aung San Residence Museum in Natmauk, Magwe Division is dedicated to his childhood and family memorabilia. On display are many of his book, paintings and photographs, awards, handwritten correspondence, and personal mementos. The number of visitors to the museum reached a record high on the second day of the centenary commemoration of Bogyoke (General) Aung San's birthday, said members of the committee for organizing the event. The visitors come from various regions near and far and they are reportedly served with free refreshment. The most attractive thing in the museum is the silicon statue of Bogyoke Aung San in a sitting posture reading a book. Museum opening hours are 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM and closed on Monday and gazetted holidays.

A small, dusty town in central Burma became the focus of the country. The Magwe town of Nat Mauk, the birthplace of Burmese independence hero Aung San. Born on February 13, 1915, at Nautmauk in Magway Region up in Central Myanmar, Aung San (or Maung Htein Lin as his former name) was educated first in the Vernacular High School of Natmauk, then second in the National High School in Yenangyaung, before he became a graduate of the Rangoon (Yangon) University, studying English Literature, Modern History and Political Science.
